Poker has long since been a popular card game. This is evidenced by its perpetual appearance in pop culture. Poker games are found in a variety of television programs and films. Whether one looks at classic episodes of the old television program THE ODD COUPLE or any one of a multitude of westerns featuring saloon poker games, it is obvious poker is quite a popular game. If anything, however, these media images would infer that the game has not changed very much over the years. To a degree, this is accurate. However, in recent years, the popularity of poker has greatly expanded thanks to the advent of online poker.
This brings about the question which is better – online poker or "offline" poker? Honestly, one is not so much better than the other. Really, they are just different in terms of the environment they are played. The rules of the game and the way the game is played, however, never changes.
With offline poker you must physically attend a live poker game in a casino. With an online version, you can play from the privacy of your home or anywhere else you have access to the internet. (Then again, you might not want to play in a poker tournament from your workplace office!) So, really, you can enjoy both games equally although online games provide significant flexibility on a number of levels. If that appeals to you then online poker is a tremendous vehicle. Offline poker, of course, also provides a host of "night on the town" opportunities that are quite fun. Really, you can't do wrong with either.
